On the frontline of COVID-19 with Aspen Medical

Aspen Medical is rolling out COVID-19 clinics across the country. Newcast Studios has been working with Aspen Medical preparing our front line healthcare workers.

Aspen Medical is on the frontline of this global crisis, setting up the first of the GP-led respiratory clinics established as part of the Australian Government’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Newcast Studios has been with the Aspen Medical team to capture the first four clinics to be operational. We’ve helped Aspen Medical to deliver training videos to the thousands of doctors and nurses that will be on the front line and can’t rely upon face-to-face training any longer. Our videos are protecting both patients and clinicians by showing them how to escort people through each individual clinic without being infected. And we are helping to update Aspen Medical teams around the world with regular CEO and Health updates from our studio.

Video is a hugely important means of communication at this unprecedented time.

It hasn’t been simple to capture clinics while our state and territory borders are closed, so we’ve used our extensive list of contractors to capture each clinic in each state. We’ve worked with them remotely to produce each walk through and edited the content from our homes.

It was also announced that Aspen Medical would set and manage a pop-up Emergency Department dedicated to treating Coronavirus patients under a partnership between the ACT Government and Aspen Medical.

News footage showed the many hours of content we had captured with Aspen Medical, both inside and out of the company’s Mobile Health Units. This is a testament to why it’s important to capture all aspects of a business, no matter how mundane, as the content we captured saved the news organisations the time to have to do it at short notice. This allows companies to provide the image they want, not rushed and misinterpreted content that the news organisations sometimes provide. 

Aspen Medical has been a long-time client of Newcast Studios.

Since 2011, Newcast has produced hundred of videos for Aspen Medical and their sister companies. We’ve captured a huge range of content too, from their corporate animation in multiple languages, the recruitment of clinicians to remote areas, 360° walk-throughs of their Mobile Health Units and aeromedical evacuation aircraft base. We have also had ongoing video series including training videos, staff profiles, CEO updates and VNRs.

It can’t be underestimated how important Aspen Medical’s work has been around the globe and we have been there with them. We followed Aspen Medical’s journey to the epicenter of the Ebola epidemic, to Sierra Leone at the height of the Ebola crisis.

We sent our cameras to Mosul, Iraq at the height of the war with ISIS to the first field hospital in the area, which was set up and operated by Aspen Medical. As this was a war zone the project was highly dangerous and to witness the true brutality of war there is no better place than a front line hospital, so the scenes were both difficult to film and to watch. The imagery was so powerful that the documentary we produced was recognised by our peers at the Cannes Corporate Media Awards in 2018 for best information film (warning, distressing images).

As we move into uncertain times, no-one can predict how long this crisis will continue…

But Aspen Medical will be there, a Canberra company that is truly a global health asset. And Newcast Studios will be capturing their every move, in every way possible.
