Case Study: St John Ambulance AED Launch

St John Ambulance had a range of branded Defibrillators launched on March 10 at Government House, Canberra – and they needed video content to spread the word.

With over 30,000 fatal heart attacks every year in Australia, St John Ambulance Australia developed a new Automated External Defibrillator which provides feedback based on the assessment of the patient — or in other words, it talks the responder through the resuscitation process.

CEO of St John Ambulance Australia, Len Fiori said that “technology-wise, we feel that it is the best in the market place and we know that it will make a difference in the community.“

Video News Releases gets your curated message to the media.

St John engaged Newcast to capture the launch of the product by Governor General David Hurley at Government House, including interviews with stakeholders and survivors of cardiac arrest. Our brief was to produce a same day Video News Release (VNR) pack consisting of news story, interviews, b-roll and audio only.

The benefit of a Video News Release is that you get to tell your story the way you want it to be told. With high-end production cameras able to capture every part of the event, we are able to quickly turn-around a news story with your guidance on the best interview grabs and best shots, to really showcase the aspects of the story you know are most important.

Working with the communications department at St John Ambulance, we were able to produce a high quality news package which was syndicated to Channel 9, Channel 7, ABC, SBS, online media and radio, in less than 5 hours.

Go a step further — brand it.

As part of the brief, we also captured more content than required for a news package, and are now in the process of producing various social media videos that highlight different aspects; for example, an Event Wrap Up video and a case study video that focuses on a survivor of cardiac arrest.

The Event Wrap Up video started with the same base as the Video News Release, but we had more time to perfect it, adding more interview grabs, more colour and movement, a music track, and St John branding.

Contact us today to discuss your next media release, and find out more about the benefits of VNRs, both as news packages and social media content.
